Chapter: Chickasha
Letter to the Members: My name is Makayla Morris, and I am currently serving as your 2026 to 2027 Oklahoma FFA Southwest Area Vice President. I am a freshman at Oklahoma State University, where I am majoring in Agricultural Education. I recently graduated from Chickasha High School, but I live just outside Chickasha in the small rural community of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, on my family’s generational farm.
With my dad having a strong FFA background, I was sort of pushed into FFA my freshman year, but I quickly found that the ag room was not just my classroom. It became my second home. I have been blessed to come from a three teacher program that gave me three different mentors to look up to and learn from.
Throughout my time in FFA, I participated in several Career and Leadership Development Events, such as Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Greenhand Quiz, Prepared Public Speaking, Livestock Judging, Meat Evaluation, and Land Judging. I also had two Supervised Agricultural Experiences. One consisted of showing sheep, which taught me work ethic and basic animal husbandry. Alongside showing sheep, I developed a Beef Production Placement proficiency that allowed me to win at the state level and advance as a national finalist at the 2025 National FFA Convention.
One of my favorite memories as an FFA member was preparing to enter the ring at my final sheep show and feeling nostalgic about how far I had come in this organization. Every late night and early morning taught me perseverance and work ethic. My wonderful parents have been the best mentors I could have ever asked for. Whether it was staying up late with me while I practiced a speech or driving me across the nation to show livestock, I will forever be grateful to my mom and dad.
