Letter to the Members:
Hello, Oklahoma FFA! My name is Cooper Kline, and I’m so excited to serve as your 2024-2025 State FFA secretary.
Though I graduated from North Rock Creek, I came from the small town of Chandler, Oklahoma, where I decided to transfer schools the summer before my eighth grade year. The coolest part was that at the time North Rock Creek was the newest FFA chapter in the state while also being the newest high school. Coming into a new school I knew I wanted to be involved so that I could meet as many people as possible. Alongside FFA I immediately dove into groups such as National Honor Society, Student Council and gifted and talented, as well as various sports, though it was when I walked into my agriculture education class for the first time that I truly felt like I found my place.
You see, I’ve lived on my family’s diversified livestock operation my whole life; we raise commercial cattle, club lambs and my personal favorite, show pigs. I began showing livestock when I was 4 and continued to do so all the way to the end of my FFA career. There was really never much of a question as to if I would join FFA, but rather in what capacity. I originally planned to join FFA so that I could continue showing. Little did I know this organization would captivate me in every way. FFA had played a major role in my family for generations, so as I became older I truly began to see the opportunity that could come from me being involved.
The fall of my eighth grade served as the most pivotal semester I would have as an FFA member. I gave my very first speech through the American Farmers and Ranchers speech contest, which immediately had me hungry to do anything I possibly could. Through the years I’ve competed in several competitions but some of my favorites include commercial cattle grading, livestock evaluation and dairy cattle evaluation, as well as prepared and my absolute favorite, extemporaneous public speaking. Competing in these events allowed me to build connections and develop relationships with so many people that I’m glad to call friends.
This organization has taught me countless lessons and given me memories that I will forever cherish. Fellow members, I am beyond excited for what is in store, and I can’t wait for what’s to come.
